What is your inspiration for your label?
I originally started the IHEARTCOMIX label because we were having a lot of success working with new artists through our events, so it seemed like a natural extension of what we do. IHC’s main focus has always been on working with new artists and shining a light on talent we feel deserve it.
Do you have any influences outside of music in how you run your company?
I’m heavily influenced by the world of comic books and film. Both play heavily in our graphic design and marketing techniques. We blatantly steal from both worlds all the time and try to apply these styles to everything we do. I think having sense of story and suspense in what you do is an important way to build context.
What kind of deals, and indeed steals, will you have at your stall?
Since we’re in the process of clearing out older stock and merch to make way for all of our new stuff next year, we’ll def be selling things at a nice discount. Older records will be a pretty fair amount off and even some of the newer merch will be on sale!
At this year’s event, new bar and arcade EightyTwo will be hosting a Street Fighter 2 tournament. If your label had a Street Fighter 2 character, what would its name be?
Which of your artists would you most like to see have a Christmas number one and why?
Acid Girls. Because they never got what they deserved!
